What a shot that would have made!

I was at Hollywood Cemetery today with my father (we were in Los Angeles, and as we drove past he related a story to me about a funeral he had conducted there when he had been working for a local funeral home, and then later after we had finished our business in L.A., he drove us back there and I wandered around taking pictures) when I saw a beautiful Canadian Goose with her three little fuzzballs, and so I was trying to get a closeup of one of the little ones (with a 50mm Prime-- HAH! A girl can dream, right?), and Mama didn't care that much for it. In fact, she lowered her head, spread her wings and came running at me.
I sprung to my feet and ran away (this situation brought back memories of being five or six and feeding the geese at a national cemetery, being chased up on a stone bench (clutching a bag of bread for dear life) and screaming for my dad to help) towards my dad and the car, but even running as fast as I could (and, let me tell you, I was booking it!) the Mama Goose caught up with me and bit down on my arm near the elbow. I flung her off and when the poor bird lost it's balance and was righting itself I ran, again, towards my dad. I didn't make it to him, though; he ran past me at the goose, who turned tail and fled with every ounce of enthusiasm it had used running AT me. Hah!

Thinking back, I felt guilty for antagonizing the goose by being so close to it's babies (I thought 5'2" was pretty unintimidating, but perhaps not to something that size :giggle: ), but wished I had aimed the camera at the goose instead of running away. What a shot that would have been!

If you're ever in the area, it's really a gorgeous cemetery to take shots in. Lots of interesting animals there. (Peacocks included, but they don't seem to be very social, either.)

Visited the Calumet in L.A. on Highland this afternoon before we left L.A., and bought a 5-in-1 reflector for just a bit more than I could have gotten it for off of Ebay. The extra $5 was worth it to me not to have to wait for the mail system to get it to me, and risk not having it when I left for my cousins' house.
